GWP donates packaging for second consecutive year. Following on from our partnership with The Marmalade Trust, GWP has stepped in to help a second local charity to spread Christmas cheer.

We have donated hundreds of boxes to Cirencester Round Table in which to distribute Christmas food parcels to disadvantaged families. The charity is packing the boxes with festive food which they delivered around Cirencester on 22 December.

Cirencester Round Table initiative

Cirencester & District Round Table treasurer, James Macpherson, who organised the initiative alongside fellow members Chris Hill and Josh Toomer, said:

Twelve months on and the cost of living crisis remains a real issue for many families, with many individuals impacted by rising prices. After the project’s success last year, we wanted to continue supporting local residents and families who may be struggling over the festive period.

He added:

We’d like to extend our thanks to all the organisations that supported us, particularly GWP for donating the boxes and other local businesses and residents for their kind donations.

More info on Cirencester Round Table

Cirencester Round Table is a local group of men between 18 and 45. There are 300 “tables” throughout the UK, who meet regularly to have fun, socialise, participate in unusual activities and raise funds for charity. Collectively, the groups raise more than £4million a year and volunteer over 160,000 hours.

This is the second year that GWP has donated boxes to the group, having also assisted in 2023. This Christmas also marks three years of support for the Marmalade Trust, the Bristol-based loneliness charity, to which GWP has also supplied hundreds of boxes.

David Mason, Sales Director at GWP, commented:

It’s a privilege to be able to help the Cirencester Round Table again this year. Christmas can be a difficult time for many people financially and even more so for those already struggling with the cost of living. But the charity’s support makes a significant difference to many local families at this time of year.

Other community support

In addition to supporting the Cirencester Round Table and Marmalade Trust, GWP also helps a number of other causes. The protective packaging manufacturer, part of Macfarlane Packaging, sponsors the Cricklade Band’s Christmas performances, staff raise funds by participating in the national Christmas Jumper Day, and the business provides regular, ongoing support to Swindon Foodbank.

Ruth Cook, Managing Director at GWP, added:

We understand the importance of supporting our local communities, both at Christmas and throughout the year. We are immensely proud to be able to help organisations such as The Cirencester Round Table and Marmalade Trust.
