Oji India Packaging Pvt. Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan’s Oji Group and a global leader in paper products, has inaugurated its fifth manufacturing facility in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. This new 43,000-square-metre facility, the largest of its kind in South Asia.
It will specialize in corrugated boxes and packaging accessories, providing sustainable and high-quality packaging solutions to the South Indian market. Founded in 2012, Oji India operates manufacturing plants across Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Punjab. With advanced automation, the Sri City unit strengthens the company’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmentally responsible packaging.
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of Muneo Takahashi, Consul General of Japan in Chennai, alongside Oji Holdings Corporation President and Oji Group CEO Hiroyuki Isono, Sri City Founder and Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy, and Oji India Packaging CEO Yoshiyuki Kurahashi. Addressing the gathering, Mr.. Isono emphasized India’s strategic importance in Oji Group’s global expansion and noted that the Sri City plant would serve as a key hub for packaging solutions in South India.
He also commended Sri City’s infrastructure and support, which enabled the timely execution of the project. Mr. Takahashi acknowledged Sri City’s role as home to India’s second-largest Japanese industrial cluster, praising its contribution to sustainable packaging innovations and regional economic growth. With this launch, Oji India Packaging reinforces its position as a leading provider of advanced, eco-friendly packaging solutions, contributing to India’s evolving manufacturing ecosystem.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy congratulated the Oji India team, highlighting that it is the 31st Japanese company in Sri City. He emphasized that Oji’s choice to set up its plant here reflects the robust industrial ecosystem that has developed in Sri City. “Their presence will enhance supply chain efficiency and cater to the packaging needs of existing industries. We are proud to welcome yet another global leader to our thriving manufacturing hub,” he stated.
