Coveris is preparing to set a new standard for flexo print with their latest Comexi press investment. Showcasing at Drupa 2024, the new state-of-the-art press marks a further step in the business’ journey towards No Waste.

Delivering the highest print quality and high-speed efficiencies alongside minimised, and customised energy consumption per job, Coveris’ latest €3 million investment into a new generation of flexo print will be on show at this year’s Drupa event in Düsseldorf (28th May – 7th June 2024).

Showcasing the Comexi at the world’s number one print technology event, the new press will be making its way to Coveris’ Louth facility in June, where it is expected to be operational by August. Already home to the business’ groundbreaking ReCover de-inking and closed-loop recycling plant, this latest investment at Coveris’ flagship facility in Louth marks a further step in the Group’s commitment to No Waste, through advances in print and operational efficiencies.

Printing with 10 colours at up to 600 m/min, the new 1.7m wide-web press delivers unrivalled set-up and run speeds at the touch of a button, using GeniusTech automated intelligence to optimise changeovers, impressions and registration. Supporting Louth’s award-winning fresh food and beverage films, the press is expected to deliver major capacity increases in rapid-downstream print to support the site’s continued growth in recyclable MonoFlex and recycled ReGen extruded films.

Given it’s high-speed, fast-turnaround responsiveness with minimised set-up and waste, the press supports strategic growth plans in the produce films sector, allowing the business to better support seasonality and market volatility through more dynamic and sustainable print technologies.

Commenting on the investment, Paul Barber, Managing Director of Coveris’ Louth plant said “we’re very excited to announce this investment and the opportunity to showcase it at the world’s leading print event alongside Comexi. Having made one of the packaging industry’s most groundbreaking and significant investments into ReCover at our Louth facility last year, we continue to invest in game changing technologies for our customers. Offering unrivalled quality and speed alongside minimised waste, energy and process, this really does represent the future of print and we look forward to sharing the technology both with our customers and at Drupa.”

The new Comexi press will be on show at the Comexi Group Industries, S.A.U. stand at Drupa, hall 10 / C19 28th May – 7th June 2024.
