Eco-Pax is said to achieve GHG reduction without compromising on performance. Packsize, an on-demand packaging company, has joined forces with Henkel Adhesive Technologies to introduce Eco-Pax, a new biobased hot melt adhesive aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the packaging industry.

This strategic partnership aligns with Packsize’s commitment to sustainability and enhancing its product offerings with innovative solutions. The new adhesive is designed to reduce the usage of traditional hot melt adhesives in sealing boxes.

Eco-Pax by Packsize and Henkel is said to improve eco-friendly specifications without compromising on performance. Packsize product management director Kristin Bauer said: “At Packsize, sustainability is at the core of everything we do.

“By partnering with Henkel, we are expanding our sustainable product offerings with innovative solutions designed to help businesses minimise ecological impacts of their products.”

Eco-Pax is formulated from biobased raw materials instead of traditional fossil-based ingredients. It will be implemented on more than 340 million boxes produced annually using Packsize’s right-sized packaging machinery.

The use of Eco-Pax is estimated to cut Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-relevant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 32%, which equates to avoiding the burning of 1.75 million pounds of coal. Henkel North America Consumer Goods Adhesives and Business Development head Kevin Heffernan said: “Partnering with an innovative leader like Packsize to launch a biobased adhesive solution is a big step towards building a more sustainable packaging value chain.

“Together, we’re setting a new standard for sustainability in packaging while delivering the high performance brands and consumers trust.”

Packsize has been partnering with companies in warehouse technology such as system integrators, manufacturers of warehouse automation equipment, and third-party logistics to deliver solutions to customers.
