SCA increases the prices on brown and white kraftliner in Europe by € 90 per tonne.
SCA is raising the prices of brown and white kraftliner in Europe by €90 per tonne, effective from March 1, 2025. Mikael Frölander, VP of Marketing and Sales at SCA Containerboard, stated that strong demand for kraftliner and ongoing cost pressures are driving the price increase, which is necessary to maintain a sustainable supply.
“There’s a good and solid demand for kraftliner in the market. The persistent cost pressure is evident and must be addressed to ensure sustainable supply,” remarks Mikael Frölander, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at SCA Containerboard.
However, the cost structure for kraftliner production has been under significant strain due to factors like raw material price increases and inflationary pressures on energy and logistics. These challenges have made it necessary for SCA to adjust its pricing to ensure the continuity of supply and meet the needs of the market in a sustainable manner.
The price rise comes as part of a broader trend in the packaging industry, where several manufacturers have been adjusting their prices in response to cost inflation. Industry experts are closely monitoring how this price change will affect overall market dynamics and whether other players will follow suit with similar price hikes.
